Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WOIA) in a 415 to 6 vote. Two weeks prior the Senate approved the same measure by a vote of 95 to 3.
As reported by INARF's national partner the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR), the final language represents months of negotiations and compromise by leaders in both parties in both houses of Congress. The measure is now headed to the President's desk for signature.
As previously reported, the WIOA modernizes and re-authorizes the Workforce Investment Act, with a particular emphasis on supporting persons with disabilities to find and maintain competitive employment, as well as ensure individuals have access to a range of employment options.
