INARF was proud to link with Meridian Health Services in our first-ever Annual Conference Partnership. This collaboration provided conference attendees with the opportunity to participate in a dedicated educational track addressing dual-diagnosis issues. INARF thanks Meridian Health Services for their commitment to the 2013 Annual Conference. In addition to the award recipients mentioned above, INARF was proud to recognize two outstanding Direct Support Professionals with the Costa N. Miller Scholarship Award at the 2013 Annual Awards Luncheon on March 13. Established on behalf of Costa Miller, INARF's founding CEO, the Costa N. Miller Scholarship was created in 1999 to assist Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) pursuing higher education to benefit the human service industry. The recipients of the award must be employed for a minimum of two years at an INARF member agency, be enrolled in an undergraduate program and have a grade-point-average of at least 2.0.
INARF was proud to honor seven exemplary individuals at the 2013 INARF Annual Awards Luncheon on March 13. The INARF Annual Awards Luncheon has been an Association tradition for many years. This annual opportunity enables INARF members to recognize significant contributions and outstanding efforts of individuals and community partners committed to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Former INARF CEO Jim Hammond was recognized for over 30 years of service to INARF with a Distinguished Service Award. In honor of Jim's accomplishments, the Chairman's Award was renamed the James M. Hammond III Executive Leadership Award in recognition of his dedication to INARF and disability service providers across Indiana. What do the Mall of America, the Department of Homeland Security and INARF members have in common? Plenty, according to 2013 Annual Conference keynote speaker Petra Marquart, a customer service expert and author of the best-selling book The Power of Service: Keeping Customers for Life. An expert in customer service, Petra has worked with well-known corporations and government entities to develop comprehensive customer service training programs to keep customers satisfied.
The INARF Pre-Conference kicked off with a Leadership Development Symposium on the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In a well-attended session, Randall Fearnow of INARF Associate Member Krieg Devault, LLP described the momentum of this legislation as a rocket that launched several decades ago, just now reaching the peak of its trajectory.
