Re: Holiday Season Health and Safety Awareness
Date: November 26, 2013
Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) would like encourage providers to promote the health, safety and well-being of consumers during the holiday season as consumers are visiting family members and friends. Please take the time to reinforce the importance of family members/friends being knowledgeable of and implementing risk plans, especially in the areas of dining/choking prevention, fall prevention and the appropriate administration of medication. This is also applicable to ensuring substitute staff are knowledgeable of and can implement a consumers’ specific risk plan. “A Holiday Season Health and Safety Awareness Handout” has been posted to the Bureau of Quality Improvement Services’ webpage to assist providers in ensuring that risk plans are followed consistently in all settings.
