As you are aware, the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is hosting a Sexual Abuse & Prevention Seminar on Wednesday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Indiana Government Center South in the Auditorium. Indiana Government Center South Auditorium Registration Link For the past several years, the American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) has recognized outstanding Direct Support Professionals (DSP) as a part of their National Advocacy Campaign. These awards not only honor those individuals that enrich the lives of the people with disabilities they serve, but also draw attention to the need to increase resources to support an exceptional Direct Support workforce.
As you may be aware, DDRS introduced Extended Services as a proposed service type to replace Supported Employment Follow-Along (SEFA). The proposed service is intended to be broader in scope than SEFA, providing additional “tools” to support an individual in community employment opportunities. An element of the new service definition is that it is to be mutually exclusive with pre-vocational services. If a person requires Extended Services to assist in maintaining a community-based job, s/he is ineligible for pre-vocational services.
