REMINDER: FSSA Sexual Abuse & Prevention Seminar 12/3/2014

As you are aware, the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is hosting a Sexual Abuse & Prevention Seminar on Wednesday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Indiana Government Center South in the Auditorium. Although the webinar is now closed for registration, seating is still available for those wishing to attend in person. Registration is required and is available using the following link:

The seminar, led by national expert Dr. Nora Baladerian, will include information on the who, what, when, why and how of abuse. It will include what actually has happened to real survivors, and how they found their way from being victims to survivors. The seminar will also include a discussion of how to reduce the risk of abuse and the impact of abuse. Finally, there will be a brief discussion on individual and group healing methods. 

INARF encourages its members to attend this seminar to learn about: 

• Abuse in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities 
  
• How much abuse is happening 
  
• Who is committing the abuse and why they get away with it 
  
• How abuse and the risk of abuse can be reduced 
  
• How we can help survivors 
  

Nora J. Baladarian, Ph. D., Project Director of the Disability and Abuse Project, is a clinical psychologist with a private practice focusing on trauma and abuse. She conducts seminars and training for first responders, agency personnel, and service providers.
