The sixth week of the Indiana General Assembly legislative session is ramping up. Committees are hearing a full load of bills and the daily floor calendar is filling up.
Last week Governor Mike Pence announced his nominee for Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann’s replacement. Eric Holcomb, former staff member of U.S. Senator Dan Coats and former Indiana Republican Party chair, ended his campaign for the U.S. Senate and accepted the nomination for Lt. Governor. The General Assembly must officially appoint the next Lt. Governor and plans to do so before the General Assembly session ends March 14th.
Lt. Governor Ellspermann is a champion for individuals with disabilities and INARF appreciates all she has done for our industry during her tenure as a State Representative and as Lt. Governor. We look forward to welcoming Eric Holcomb and working with him to educate and advocate for the people our members serve.
House Bill 1012 Developmental Disability Identification Card is scheduled for action this week in the Senate, and Senate Bill 11 ABLE Savings Accounts for Persons with a Disability will be heard in the House.
