Speaker Brian Bosma told the House that he believes in miracles but there's not going to be one this year; the legislature will be going to the last statutory day, Wednesday, rather than finishing early as many had hoped. Midnight Wednesday is the deadline for the session to adjourn, and Speaker Bosma says they will adjourn by then with a budget for 2015-17 having been adopted.
To that end, word is the conference committee report on the budget will be distributed Tuesday and the vote will be Wednesday. Budget conferees worked through the weekend in resolving the differences among the House, Senate, and Governor's spending priorities for the biennial budget. It appears INARF’s funding request remains on the table as conferees meet.
With roughly 70 bills currently eligible, conference committees have been in full swing, but few reports have made it to the House and Senate floors for votes before the legislature adjourned for the weekend. Though conference committees may have met, few reports have been drafted for signature and Rules Committee approval in the respective houses. HB 1401, the bill broadening the definition of “Medicaid fraud” has been signed by the Governor.
