On February 25, Passages, Inc. held its first Spotlight Avenue performance at their Creative Learning Center in Columbia City. This year’s production, entitled Waiting......is the hardest part, included 10 individuals performing what they described as “a story about the struggles and trials of waiting and all the emotions that come with it.” The performance included several scenes, musical numbers, and skits performed to tell the story of going to see a new exhibit at the zoo, obstacles that require them to wait during this trip, and learning to overcome these obstacles. This Spotlight Avenue Performing Arts Program was formed in June of 2015 as a multi-disciplinary performing arts program for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. The program is comprised of weekly sessions focused in skill building and socialization. This year’s Spotlight Avenue performance was made possible by a grant from the AWS Foundation. Passages, Inc. plans to expand the program in upcoming years with a goal of increasing the number of participants to 40 by the fourth year of the program.
INARF congratulates the performers on a successful production and applauds Passages, Inc. for providing the Spotlight Avenue program to the individuals they serve. Comments are closed.
