The Hamilton County Aktion Club of Janus Developmental Services hosted an ice bucket challenge to raise awareness of ALS/Lou Gehrigs disease. Bryan Held, Aktion Club President, began the challenge and over the course of a week nominations were made. Over 20 people accepted the challenge and to date over $215 in donations have been raised for the ALS Foundation by the Aktion Club. Connie F. Sanders, Janus President and CEO commented “Many have heard of and participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and now Janus is a part of this phenomena. From Silicon Valley to Hamilton County, the challenge is sweeping the nation. Leave it to the Janus Aktion Club to find a way to cool off on a hot summer day and support a great cause.” The Hamilton County JDS Aktion Club is a community service club created by adults with developmental disabilities supported by Janus Developmental Services and sponsored by the Carmel Golden K Kiwanis Club. The Aktion Club promotes leadership and service in Hamilton County for people of all abilities.
