INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 30, 2021) — The Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation is proud to partner with IndyGo to extend the Mobility Access Fund to Marion County 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations.
In addition to the free and reduced programs already available to individual veterans, seniors, those with disabilities and students, the fund will now offer two resources to nonprofit organizations to help decrease the financial barrier for their clients using public transportation, including Bus Pass Grants and the Nonprofit Discount Program. The goal is to make it easier for nonprofits to assist Marion County residents seeking employment, food, healthcare and other essential services.
Through the Bus Pass Grants program, nonprofits can apply for free bus passes through an annual competitive grant process that distributes funds as they are available. Applications will be accepted online Oct. 1-29. Grants will be awarded in December.
The Nonprofit Discount Program offers organizations a 50% discount, up to $1,000 per year, to purchase full fare bus passes. Nonprofit discount applications will open online starting Oct. 1. Applications for discounts will be accepted year-round.
“IPTF and IndyGo have streamlined this process for nonprofit organizations, giving them a single point of contact for both free and discounted passes,” said IPTF Executive Director Emily Lovison. “The Foundation is thrilled to offer community partners, that are benefitting residents in need, an easy and efficient way to gain important resources for their clients.”
This round of bus pass grants is made possible by the Glick Fund at Central Indiana Community Foundation and Anthem, Inc. Future grants and the availability of the nonprofit discounts will come from donations to the MAF and the partnership with IndyGo.
