IHCP Update: April 8

The Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) posted the following important information to the provider website at in.gov/medicaid/providers on April 8, 2021 (unless alternate date is noted).

Bulletins
BT202130 – IHCP provides billing guidance for attendant care transportation options
BT202129 – DDRS waiver providers to provide COVID-19 vaccines to eligible FSW and CIH waiver members

​Provider Reference Modules
Provider Enrollment (see the module for a full list of changes)

• Changed DXC references to Gainwell
• In the Application Fee Exemptions section, clarified that the IHCP application fee is required when Medicare enrollment is pending
• Updated documentation requirements in the Hardship Exception section
• Identified which providers qualify as atypical in the National Provider Identifier Requirements section
• Added a note regarding dental broker requirements for dentists enrolling as a business entity, in both the National Provider Identifier Requirements section and the Dentist (Type 27) section
• Added a note in the Provider Type and Specialty Requirements section about rendering providers enrolling with more than one provider type under a single NPI
• Updated the Hospital (Type 01) section
• Updated the Clinic (Type 08) section
• Updated the Behavioral Health Provider (Type 11) section and subsections to add new specialties, as well as the specialties formerly under Type 35
• Updated information about in-state status for out-of-state enrollments in the Durable Medical Equipment (Type 25) and Home Medical Equipment (Type 25) sections
• Updated the Transportation (Type 26) section and subsection
• Changed the allowance for retroactive provider enrollment from 1 year to 180 days in the Retroactive Enrollment section

Interactive Voice Response System

• Replaced DXC with Gainwell
• Updated IVR system responses to reflect current script
• In the Introduction section, added note about using the Portal for finding information; also added footnote about exclusions (brokered NEMT and pharmacy services)
• In the IVR System Walkthrough section, clarified the ZIP Code and taxonomy are not always required with the NPI
• Added PA and RCP options to the menu items in Table 7 – IVR System Initial Options
• Updated the Service Restrictions and Other Coverage Details section, including Table 9 – IVR System – Service Restrictions
• Updated the Benefit Limits section
• Clarified wording in the EFT/RA Payment Inquiry section to reflect that information includes payments made by check as well as those made by EFT
