Pyramid Inc., a non-profit organization in Florida, serves adults with severe disabilities. Their Tampa location, one of five within the state, has developed an innovative concept of teaching adults with developmental disabilities to express themselves through the arts while making money doing it. This includes things from singing and dancing to pottery and painting.
“We don’t focus on their disabilities, we focus on their abilities.'' says Andrea Ames, Director of Pyramid Inc. The art is showcased twice yearly. “It gives people an opportunity to see what our students are working on, and again whatever artwork sells, the student who made it gets half the proceeds.”
