In the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services announcements of June 28, 2021, and July 8, 2021, the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services announced a legislated 14% rate increase to go toward wages and benefits paid to eligible direct support professionals delivering the following services:
The July 8, 2021, announcement included provider billing options and implementation plans, stating that the increased rates will be implemented and available in our systems to bill beginning on or after Aug. 1, 2021, and retroactively effective to July 1, 2021. The needed systems changes have not yet been finalized and an announcement will be made once those are changes are complete. Providers can continue to bill the current rate for the affected services. When systems are updated to reflect the updated service rates and prior authorizations, Gainwell will automatically reprocess the claims for these services to remit the 14% increase to providers. Alternatively, providers may choose to wait to bill claims for these services until after the updates have been appropriately applied.
