The Bureau of Quality Improvement Services mission is to ensure quality supports are aligned with person centered principles by leading strategic change that empowers people to live their good life. The mission of IIDC is to work with communities to welcome, value, and support the meaningful participation of people of all ages and abilities through research, education, and service. IIDC has had a long-standing partnership with the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services and brings valuable expertise to this initiative.
The in-person survey will be conducted with adult individuals receiving services through the Community Integration and Habilitation and Family Supports waivers as well as individuals receiving supervised group living services. BQIS strives to ensure a collective voice of individuals receiving IDD services and supports through the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services. In alignment with the DDRS’ HOPE goals of keeping people safe and minimizing the spread of COVID-19, the in-person survey is conducted through a remote interview process utilizing HIPAA compliant video conferencing. If the individual prefers a face-to-face interview, surveyors will schedule and coordinate with the individual, provider and family in order to adhere to both IIDC and provider established safety protocols (e.g. PPE and social distancing). The IIDC survey team will be contacting individuals, guardians, case managers, service coordinators and residential providers to coordinate the interview process and gather specific information regarding the individual. The in-person interviews will occur between November 2021 and June 2022. Earlier this year, BQIS administered the Family Guardian Survey to a sample of guardian or family members with an adult with IDD (18+) living outside the home. In addition to the Family Guardian Survey, BQIS will administer two new family surveys. The Adult Family Survey will include respondents who have an adult family member with IDD (18+) living with them in the family home and the Child Family Survey will include parents/guardians who have a child with IDD (under age 18) living with them in the family home. Each family survey will be mailed and include an optional link to complete online. The administration of the family surveys will be staggered between December 2021 and June 2022. Your questions may be addressed in the Frequently Asked Questions. Questions may also be sent to Marcie Beers, NCI Project Coordinator, (812) 855-4592, [email protected]. We look forward to working together to gather this valuable information across the state and support individuals to live their best lives.
