The first full week of committee hearings in the second house started more slowly than normal for a short session. Though House and Senate committees were meeting, most were scheduled to hear just a few bills. With slower movement this week, next week - the last full week for committee hearings - will likely see lengthy hearing schedules. In other legislative news, the distraction of the Marriage Amendment passed when it moved to Third Reading in the Senate without amendments. It currently remains in the form passed by the House. Looking ahead, a number of bills that INARF has been watching are set for committee hearings next week. Others have just been assigned to committees and may be scheduled for hearings either late next Friday afternoon in Senate Committees, or on Monday if heard on the House floor. Some may be scheduled later next week if necessary. Below are bills of interest to INARF members which are currently scheduled for hearings: SB 137 - Adult Protective Services Study Committee. Wed. at 8:30 a.m. in the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee, Room 156-A. SB 139 -Includes medication assistance in scope of "attendant care services".
