CMS Has Issued A Proposed Rule Amending the Effective Date for the Home Health CoPs to January 13, 2018
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ("CMS") has issued a Proposed Rule to delay the effective date for the Home Health Agency Conditions of Participation ("CoPs") until January 13, 2018. There is a sixty (60) day comment period for the proposed rule, however, it is anticipated the final rule implementing the delay will be issued after the comment period ends. The current effective date for the new CoPs is July 13, 2017, and the proposed rule calls for a six month delay.
Medicare or Medicaid certified Home Health Agencies will want to continue toward implementation and compliance with the new CoPs. However, it appears likely agencies will have additional time to complete implementation, which is great news.
