INARF has received several questions from members regarding the DDRS bulletin sent earlier this week about the repeal of the 2005 Provision of Medicaid Services Outside of the State of Indiana Policy. INARF requested clarification from BDDS and received the following information regarding the policy repeal and the content of the new policy: Britt Sutton, BDDS Director of Policy, informed INARF that the new policy will allow reimbursement for services on out-of-state day trips and in-state overnight trips. This should provide more flexibility to individuals and their families by providing them with the ability to take staff on out-of-state day trips and in-state overnight trips. Due to Medicaid policy, out-of-state overnight trips are not allowed to be reimbursed. The new policy will be posted and effective on August 28, 2017. If you have questions, please contact the INARF office. Previously sent message:
The Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) sent the following information out regarding the Repeal of 2005 Provision of Medicaid Services Outside of the State of Indiana Policy. Effective August 28, 2017, the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) is repealing the November 1, 2005 Waiver Policy Notification: Provision of Medicaid Services Outside of the State of Indiana. A repeal means the policy is no longer valid in regards to DDRS Home and Community Based Services waivers and cannot be referenced, so please dispose accordingly. A new policy will be released with updated regulations regarding vacations and out of state travel. This policy will take effect on August 28, 2017. The changes will reflect the DDRS’ position that billing is allowable for in-state overnight trips and day trips. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the BDDS Director of Policy, Britt Sutton at brittany.sutton@fssa.in.gov. Comments are closed.
