Carey Services has unveiled a way for people interested in learning more about the agency’s work to safely tour the Marion campus in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The agency has a 360-degree, virtual tour available on most any device that can access the internet, and it is accessible any time someone wants to get online to view it. Visitors take a guided tour, where they can travel through the multiple buildings on the Carey Services main campus in Marion, Ind. They can watch videos from several agency representatives who talk about specific program areas, including the early childhood education services building in Hartford City. The tour also provides numerous links to documents and other resources that further describe agency programs and the positive impact in communities served by Carey Services.
“We’re excited to be able to offer this opportunity to tour our main Marion campus from anywhere,” said Jim Allbaugh, Carey Services’ president and chief executive officer. “We are already getting great feedback from those that have experienced this awesome tour, and people are learning more about the impact we are making.”
One such positive feedback example included a recent viewer’s virtual tour experience. “The virtual tour is incredible, easily one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while. I went on the virtual tour last night and completely lost track of time.”
In 2019, Carey Services began offering a monthly lunchtime tour opportunity open to anyone interested in learning more about the agency’s impact, but those on-site tours have been suspended since March because of the pandemic. The virtual tour idea came about in discussions on how to continue to engage people in the community while remaining respectful of local health and safety protocols.
“One of the things we see almost every time we have new people on campus is some version of a comment that says ‘I didn’t know Carey Services did so much and supported so many different people’,” Allbaugh said. “We are always striving to become more engaged in the community, and this online opportunity to do a virtual tour certainly allows us to continue to reach out safely and let people know what we do and how they might be able to learn more about and partner with our organization.”
