The mission of Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services is “To connect people with disabilities and their families to resources and supports to live their best life.” Earlier this year BDDS launched the BDDS Gateway which provides individuals with disabilities and their families a new avenue to apply for BDDS supports and services! As a result, BDDS has seen an increase in applications of almost 30% over previous years. The BDDS Gateway can be accessed at BDDSgateway.fssa.in.gov. The Systems Consolidation Project is another means to support the BDDS mission. The end-goal of the SCP is to modernize and consolidate antiquated systems. The BDDS Portal 2.0 will go-live in the fall of 2021. After that, BDDS Portal 2.0 will continue to be improved through regular system releases. In addition, the SCP efforts will move forward with planned phases to enhance the BDDS Gateway and consolidate other systems.
BDDS staff are currently engaged in BDDS Portal 2.0 user acceptance testing. During UAT, BDDS staff are completing tasks in the system to confirm the new functionality is working properly. All testing results are communicated back to the project team to address any system defects. BDDS has plans to engage some providers and case managers in reviewing the system functionality as well. The BDDS Portal 2.0 User Guides are being drafted as a resource to help staff, providers and case managers effectively use the system. Information gathered during UAT is utilized in the drafting of the user guides. In conjunction with the user guides, comprehensive training is in development for all users. As BDDS continues with these efforts, stakeholders will be updated on progress. We appreciate the continued partnership on the important work of supporting individuals and families in living their vision of a good life.
