Bona Vista’s Community Connections has received $9,500 from the Duke Energy Foundation. This money will help fund programming for adults that they serve in the Community Connections program that will be in our new Imagine That! Center. Community Connections will use this 8,000+ square foot space to provide services to adults with severe and profound disabilities. “We are so happy to have the support from such a philanthropic organization and look forward to growing the partnership,” states Adria Snoddy, Bona Vista’s Vice President, Donor Development.
The Community Connections program currently serves forty individuals with physical disabilities, and more than half are diagnosed with a mental illness. The cost to provide meaningful programming to each individual exceeds the reimbursement for services Bona Vista receives. Bona Vista looks to community partners, individual contributors and local organizations for additional funding to assist the adults in Community Connections. Kevin Johnston from Duke Energy states, “Duke Energy is proud to support a vital program such as Community Connections. Bona Vista is meeting a need in our community and making a difference in so many people’s lives.” INARF congratulates Bona Vista on receiving the grant and applauds the Duke Energy Foundation for supporting this important program.
