Bona Vista Programs Recognizes Outstanding Direct Support Professional

In their effort to recognize amazing Direct Support Professionals (DSP), Bona Vista Programs created an annual DSP Award. Agency supervisors had the opportunity to nominate individuals they believed met the agency's criteria for being an outstanding DSP.

After considering dozens of worthy candidates, Becky Ashenfelter, Early Head Start Prenatal Specialist, was chosen as Bona Vista Programs' first DSP Award recipient. Becky was recognized at Bona Vista's June Board of Directors meeting where she received a plaque, lunch with the board and a $500 bonus. 

Rachelle Myers, director of Early Head Start and Becky's supervisor, nominated Becky for her dedication to her work with the Early Head Start Prenatal Program. "Becky is a dedicated professional who works with her clients in a respectful and caring way. Becky continually builds a trusting relationship with her prenatal families. Becky's families talk very highly of her and share how much they have learned from her and how much they appreciate the support and knowledge she has given them," Rachelle stated. 

Becky has been with Bona Vista since 1991, and 2013 will be her 22nd year with the agency. She has maintained her nursing degree, and she is part of the breast feeding coalition. Becky is very committed to the families that she helps. "Families continually touch base with Becky after they have moved on to other EHS program options due to the quality relationship she has built with them," Rachelle raved about Becky's relationships with the families.
