In a time when people change jobs often and are always looking for the next best thing, it is rare to find an employee who cares so much about stability, yet Taco Bell has. This year marks the 24th year of employment for Jennifer Bolander. Jennifer has worked for Taco Bell for 24 years with the help of the supports offered by INARF member Janus Developmental Services. Janus specializes in helping adults like Jennifer who have developmental disabilities to find a job and earn an income. This is done by identifying what they like to do, what they don’t like to do, and developing a plan for them to succeed in life.
Bolander is one of Janus’ longest clients and greatest success stories. She came to Janus’ Community Employment program in 1992 with the hopes of getting a job and making friends while bettering herself as a person. “That’s the goal when someone comes through vocational rehabilitation when they want a job working in the community,” said Becke Nauyokas, an employment specialist at JDS. “It’s a process. We meet with them, find their likes and dislikes. Then we develop a plan. From there, we do some job development.” INARF congratulates Jennifer on her 24th anniversary with Taco Bell and Janus along with other Ability Indiana employment centers on their successful job placement.
