On April 15, the Family and Social Services Administration Division of Aging (DA) published an update concerning the Preadmission Screening and Resident Review redesign process. The update concerns many new resources that are available and upcoming meetings and webinars for stakeholders to obtain addition information about the PASRR redesign process.
ADEC, an INARF member in Elkhart County, is hosting "Wings for Autism" in South Bend, Indiana on April 30. This national program offers individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities the opportunity to overcome their anxiety about flying by providing a walk-through of the complete process, from checking luggage and getting a boarding pass to finding a seat on the plane and buckling up.
INARF member Carey Services has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the nation’s leading organization of high-quality early childhood professionals and programming. This accreditation was earned for the Grant and Blackford classroom programming provided by Carey Services, and this adds value to the early childhood partnerships and services in those two counties.
According to ANCOR, INARF's national partner, the Department of Labor (DOL) announced on April 4 a new three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the state of Oregon that is intended to protect employees' rights by preventing their misclassification as independent contractors or other non-employee statuses. This MOU is part of DOL's initiative to combat misclassification. To date, 28 other states have entered into similar agreements with DOL and the IRS to ensure that employees are properly classified.
On April 13, 2016, Tennessee became the first state to receive approval from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on their Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule Statewide Transition Plan (STP).
