LIFEDesigns was awarded a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County to improve employment outcomes for all working age adults served by the agency. LIFEDesigns recently completed its strategic planning process for the next three years, 2016 through 2018. Through this planning process, the board and staff leadership highlighted one area where we could improve services and the quality of life for our customers—employment. The Employment First project changes the agency’s approach to planning for people, secures additional resources for employment, and works to support people to become self-employed. Grant activities will include training and technical support on person centered planning focused on employment; mentoring for all staff in how to support people on the job; cataloguing existing support for self-employment, particularly idea generation and establishment of a small business startup fund.
Bona Vista has announced a partnership with Center Township Trustees Office to provide the Community Connections Adult Day Program. “We at the Center Township Trustee's Office are elated to partner with Bona Vista in the delivery of service to our clients through the Community Connections Adult Day Program to those with significant need. We continue to be sensitive to the basic necessities and quality of life,” stated Dr. Robert A. Lee, Trustee. INARF is pleased to announce that the annual State Officials Roundtables will return in May with a refreshed format. In an effort to enhance the information exchange opportunity, the format is being revamped from the traditional roundtables to breakout sessions. The breakout sessions will each host one-half of the audience and involve the state officials teams to move from room to room instead of the audience. Attendees will hear initiatives from each of the participating state officials and benefit from the questions posed and answers provided en masse. After both breakout sessions, the audience will reconvene to hear from Kylee Hope, Director, Division of Disability & Rehabilitative Services and Jim Van Dyke, INARF Interim President/CEO. The full agenda and registration information will be announced next week.
