HANDS in Autism® has been invited to conduct an analysis of the current resources and services related to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) across multiple stakeholder groups in the state of Indiana. As an initial part of this process, HANDS is inviting individuals to share their perspective from the viewpoint for which they are best able to do so (e.g., family member, individual with ASD, medical provider, school personnel, justice system employee, community service provider).

-- Grants available to high-quality early education providers to help expand capacity of On My Way Pre-K Indianapolis (Jan. 20, 2014) – Indiana’s Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL) is partnering with Early Learning Indiana to offer nearly $500,000 in grants to early learning providers to help support the successful implementation of Indiana’s first publicly-funded pre-kindergarten pilot program, On My Way Pre-K. HB 1001, currently the Governor’s version of the biennial budget, is set for hearing in the House Ways and Means committee on Tuesday at 10 a.m. The hour-long hearing can be viewed on the internet,http://iga.in.gov/ and scrolling to the House Ways and Means committee in the “Upcoming Meetings” box, then clicking on the video camera to the right.
Yesterday, INARF learned that plans are underway to transition North Willow from a large private ICF/IDD to a nursing facility. As a result of this transition, many of the individuals currently residing at North Willow will be moving into the community – either through the waiver or group home program.
ADA-Indiana and the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities recently announced the availability of funding for small projects related to the Americans with Disabilities Act. The primary focus of the 2015 grant cycle is on health and related support services, including training, access, and awareness initiatives. INARF encourages its members to take advantage of this opportunity to promote positive change in their local communities.
