At the Muncie Civic Theatre, Hillcroft Services, Inc. and The Facing Project came together for a night of celebration. Hillcroft clients and staff joined a group of dedicated writers, photographers and actors in presenting the stories of 20 remarkable individuals for the project and had a captive audience of nearly 400 people.
On October 9, 2014, Opportunity Enterprises' Board of Directors named Ellen DeMartinis as its new CEO. DeMartinis, a 21 year veteran of Opportunity Enterprises (OE), had been Interim CEO after David Stupay's resignation in August.
Jay-Randolph Developmental Services, Inc. (JRDS), which provides a wide array of services to persons with disabilities, recently announced their acquisition of the Hartzell Fan Company in Portland, Indiana. The purchase of this factory will be used by JRDS Industries, a JRDS company, to further its mission to provide quality services which empower persons with disabilities to pursue their individual goals in a variety of community settings.
On Wednesday, October 8th, Governor Mike Pence announced that Dr. Jerome Adams will serve as the new Commissioner for the Indiana State Department of Health. Dr. Adams will start his new role within the administration on October 22nd. Previously the position has been occupied by Dr. William VanNess, who worked to promote the governor’s plan to expand the Healthy Indiana Plan to provide health insurance to more low-income Hoosiers. VanNess resigned for personal reasons in August of this year.
New Hope Services, Inc. received approval from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) to expand its Aberdeen Woods Development. The project, developed in recognition of the evolving needs of seniors in Southern Indiana who continue to support their children and grandchildren, is a 29 unit complex located in Jeffersonville.
