INARF Member LIFEDesigns welcomes a new face to its leadership in 2015. Kemberly Dailey-Johnson joins LIFEDesigns as its Chief Services Officer (CSO), bringing more than 20 years of experience working in the disability services industry.
After quickly moving through the U.S. House and Senate, the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act was signed by the President last week, creating the opportunity for individuals with disabilities to open savings accounts without the risk of losing Social Security and Medicaid benefits. These tax-exempt accounts are available for people with disabilities that had an onset prior to 26 years of age.
Last week, INARF and Arc of Indiana held a Freshman Legislative Luncheon, to give Members an opportunity to meet newly elected legislators. The eight legislators in attendance were presented with the 2015 legislative priorities of the two organizations and spoke with members about their organizations and missions, individuals with disabilities, and the services they provide.
As you are aware, the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS) recently released an application that must be completed by providers in order to contract for the delivery Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services after June 30, 2015. In order to be considered for a contract, all VR providers must submit this application no later that February 6. 2015, at 4:00 p.m. (EST).
The 2015 Indiana General Assembly is underway. The Governor has released his 2015-17 biennial budget proposal which will be formally filed as HB 1001 early next week. It's a $31-billion package, roughly 1 1/2 % higher than the current budget.
