Based on several individuals reporting that FSSA was planning to move the First Steps program from the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services to another Division within FSSA, INARF through its contract lobbyist Kelli Waggoner, requested a meeting with FSSA Secretary John Wernert to discuss this issue.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (October 11, 2016) – Mayor Joe Hogsett joined Ability Indiana today to designate the City of Indianapolis, the first “Ability City” in Indiana. The designation recognizes the City’s long-standing commitment to supporting the employment of Hoosiers with disabilities at employment centers across Marion County.

The Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) would like to remind all Day Services providers that the DDRS Non-Residential Self-Assessment is due on October 13, 2016. This assessment is mandatory for all providers of Non-Residential Day Services. A message was sent to NOA emails on September 13, 2016, and includes an attachment with the following direct link to the self-assessment.
Yesterday, the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy had a “discussion on the new requirements from CMS pertaining to HCBS settings as well as the impact of the change from daily rate billing to hourly billing for facility based habilitation services”. These topics were originally referenced in Senate Enrolled Act 323 from the 2016 legislative session that Deidra Conner pursued through one of her local legislators, Representative Holli Sullivan, and both were very helpful in getting these topics assigned to an interim study committee.
