In 2011, Melody and Russ Stein opened Mozzeria, San Francisco’ first (and only) restaurant owned and staffed by individuals with hearing impairments. "When we first opened, we decided to hire some hearing and Deaf employees,” said Melody. “Over time, I felt that we should be extending opportunities to Deaf people who otherwise experience obstacles in getting opportunities, training, or employment. We thought the time had come to go all-Deaf. We have never regretted this decision."

The Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (INARF) the principal association representing agencies that provide services to Indiana citizens with disabilities, is pleased to announce that Nick Rhoad will lead the Indiana State Use Program. The State Use Program is a preferential purchasing program required by state law for state government and municipalities that creates employment and training opportunities for Hoosiers with disabilities.
In a joint luncheon of the Self-Advocates of Indiana (SAI) and Direct Support Professionals of Indiana (DSPIN) Conference attendees, awards were presented honoring individuals and organizations.
