New Hope Services, Inc. has named Jody Kitch, MSSW, LSW as Chief Operating Officer. Kitch joined the organization in 2004 as Director of Adult Services, and in 2011 was named Vice President/Director of Social Services. In her new role, Kitch will continue to direct the two human services divisions of Adult Services and Child & Family Services. Additional responsibilities include Housing & Community Development, which focuses on the affordable housing needs of Indiana residents. The American Association of People with Disabilities is pleased to accept applications for the NBC Universal Tony Coelho Media Scholarship, open to students with disabilities. Each scholarship recipient will receive $5,625 for tuition and fees at his/her college or university. Applications will be accepted until the August 11 deadline.
#### Governor Mike Pence has announced that the mission of the Office of Federal Grants and Procurement will be updated to focus on cutting the red tape associated with federal grants. The newly established Office of State-Based Initiatives will collaborate with state agencies to perform cost-benefit analyses on each identified federal grant opportunity and publish an annual study about the cost of federal regulations to be shared with the Indiana Congressional Delegation. Comedian Scott Long, father of nine-year-old Maddie and five-year-old twins, and his wife Susan like to find the lighter side when it comes to the tough job of parenting, especially when one of your children has a disability. Showcasing his unique perspective, Scott is performing at Crackers in Broad Ripple on August 16. Proceeds will benefit Noble of Indiana and Special Olympics.
In their effort to recognize amazing Direct Support Professionals (DSP), Bona Vista Programs created an annual DSP Award. Agency supervisors had the opportunity to nominate individuals they believed met the agency's criteria for being an outstanding DSP.
