In a time when people change jobs often and are always looking for the next best thing, it is rare to find an employee who cares so much about stability, yet Taco Bell has. This year marks the 24th year of employment for Jennifer Bolander. Jennifer has worked for Taco Bell for 24 years with the help of the supports offered by INARF member Janus Developmental Services.
This year Indianapolis Metropolitan High School, with the help of Goodwill Commercial Services of Indianapolis, an Ability Indiana employment center, accepted the 2016 SourceAmerica Design Challenge. This annual national engineering competition strives to help make tasks easier for people with disabilities in the workplace setting.
This week, is the seventh week of the General Assembly session and three short weeks until the March 14th statutory deadline for the end of session. Senate Bill 11, ABLE savings accounts for persons with a disability, was recommitted to the House Ways and Means Committee and received a hearing this morning, passing out of Committee with a vote of 21 to 0. The Bill will proceed to the full House for a vote. Members are encouraged to contact their Representatives today and ask them to support the bill.
Once again Meridian Health Services (MHS) has teamed up with INARF to provide a dual diagnosis track at this year’s annual conference. The goal of the partnership is to provide opportunities to increase our collective understanding of and ability to respond to the wide variety of needs of those we serve.
Over 175 members attended INARF's Quarterly Professional Interest Section Meeting in Indianapolis on February 18. The morning began with six concurrent Professional Interest Section meetings, featuring a variety of topics and presentations, including a Vocational Rehabilitation Services Update from Kylee Hope, and update on the Transition to CoreMMIS and the Provider Healthcare Portal from representatives from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and a legal update on Interesting Developments in Human Resources by Steve Lyman to name a few.
