Sponsorship for the makeover is provided by Blakley’s Retail and IDG with other items provided by Shaw Industries, Delta Faucet, Kentwood Office Furniture and YB Normal Custom Woodworking. Two corridors and three group rooms have been painted, and received new flooring, furniture, plumbing and lights. The areas are fully compliant with ADA standards and were designed to be functional spaces, which encourages learning and social skills.
Design for a Difference is an interior design contest that gives the winning designer(s) the unique opportunity to makeover a space for a local charity and make a positive impact on their community. The entry is based on an idea and vision for the charity, not a completed design project. The goal of Design for a Difference is to provide designers an opportunity to express their talents for the good of those in need and for their communities.
