Believing dyslexia to be both misunderstood and under-researched, Daniel Britton designed a font which mimics the experience of reading with dyslexia. A graphic designer from the United Kingdom, Britton, has lived with Dyslexia his entire life. In commenting on the purposes behind his efforts, Britton says, “It simulates the frustration and the work and the outright embarrassment of reading with disability.”
The font removes about 40 percent of each letter, including a key characteristic. It’s doesn’t show readers precisely what letters look like to a dyslexic person, but slows readers down to the pace of someone with dyslexia - slowly and painstakingly trying to form the letters. "You could only imagine where the world could be in a few years' time,” he said, noting how society could benefit from better addressing the challenges facing dyslexic people “Maybe we’ll have a few more Richard Bransons and a few more Elon Musks.”
