Inside Indiana Business with Gerri Dick featured Kathy Nimmer, 2015 National Teacher of the Year Finalist who lost her sight as a teenager due to a rare disease. Nimmer, who most recently won 2015 Indiana Teacher of the Year, was interviewed about her experiences leading up to her choice to become a teacher and the challenges she faced.
As part of INARF’s continuing commitment to ensuring members are informed, we have compiled updates on key issues and activities in which the INARF Board of Directors, Governmental Affairs Committee, and Staff have been engaged in on your behalf.
Nearly 200 members attended INARF's Quarterly Professional Interest Section Meeting in Indianapolis on August 20. The morning began with five concurrent Professional Interest Section meetings, featuring a variety of topics and presentations, including Compliance Basics for Providers, DOL’s Overtime Exemption Rule, Wellness Coordination, Daily Rate Implementation, First Steps Updates, and a Community Dialogue on Work and Employment Services.
Developmental Services, Inc. (DSI), INARF member and State Use employment provider, recently had some help from students at Indiana State University (ISU). Art classes for adults at DSI were provided by students from ISU’s Community School of the Arts. The twice weekly classes were a program called “Art for Life”, which was funded by a grant from the Wabash Valley Community Foundation.
Experiences from working in member organizations can be carried on into the community. For Rauch, Inc., INARF member and State Use employment center, summer intern Darian Eswine was able to capture those some of those experiences in her final blog post and in the video below. Eswine noted that, when she asked people what their favorite part of working at Rauch was, they replied “the clients”.
